Art at the Arboretum

An exciting, enriching weekend to benefit Laurelwood Arboretum

Art at the Arboretum logoArt at the Arboretum, a first-ever fundraising event for Friends of Laurelwood Arboretum, will help us to continue to maintain and enhance our beautiful park and host programs for nature lovers of all ages. The event will also be an opportunity for our supporters and members to view and purchase artwork from notable artists. The art on display will include a variety of styles and mixed-media, such as abstract/urban expressionism, modern, and sculpture. Distinguished artists have been identified and selected by a professional art assessor.

Friends of Laurelwood Arboretum is producing an Art Journal book for the event with information about each of the artists and their work. It will include advertisements from businesses and supporters who have made donations to the journal. The book is a key component of the fundraising effort.

The weekend’s festivities will begin on Saturday, September 24, at 7 p.m. with an opening gala cocktail & dessert reception for sponsors and patrons at a ticket price of $125 per person. Guests will have the opportunity to meet the artists and preview or purchase their work. Guest speaker will be Frank Juliano, Executive Director of Reeves-Reed Arboretum, who will discuss, “How to Identify & Buy Collectible Art.” Mr. Juliano has curated and organized many art exhibits and is active in the art communities of the tristate area.

On Sunday, September 25, members and supporters of Friends of Laurelwood Arboretum will be invited to attend a champagne brunch reception from 10:30 a.m. to noon. They will have an opportunity speak with the artists and preview or purchase artwork. Tickets are $25.

The exhibition will be open to the public without charge from noon to 4 p.m.

Pines Lake resident, Leslie Reiser, is serving as the Art at the Arboretum Chairperson. The event committee will recognize Township of Wayne, Mayor Christopher Vergano, as the Honorary Chairperson.
