Directions & Facilities

Laurelwood Arboretum is open free to the public, every day, dawn to dusk, except during emergency conditions. Laurelwood is situated between Colfax Rd. and Pines Lake Drive, bordered on one end by Vale Road. The public parking lot is located through the open gate on Pines Lake Drive.

On site: No shop or restaurant. Handicapped Portable bathroom available in season, May - October. Restaurants and coffee shops abound within one mile of the Arboretum.

From the South: Route 287 north to Exit 53 (3rd Riverdale exit, past the exit for Route 23), turn right on Hamburg Turnpike at end of exit ramp, go about 1 mile, make left on Route 202 (Terhune Avenue), then first right on Colfax Rd., left on Vale Road, right on Pines Lake Drive.

From the North: Exit 53 Bloomingdale/Pompton Plains to Hamburg Turnpike then follow directions from the South.

From the North: Route 287 south to Route 208 south exit (Franklin Lakes). Make right at end of exit ramp, another right on High Mountain Road and a quick left onto Colonial Road. Take Colonial to "T" intersection and blinking light, make right on Franklin Lakes Road, make left at second light onto Breakneck Rd. (becomes Berdan Ave.), go about 1/2 mile, make sharp right on Indian Road, left on Osceola, left on Pines Lake Drive, about 1/2 miles, all the way until just before Vale Rd., make left into gated parking lot in the arboretum.

From the East: Route 208 north to Colonial Road/Franklin Lakes exit. Make left at end of exit ramp onto Colonial Road. Take Colonial to "T" intersection and blinking light, make right on Franklin Lakes Road, make left at second light onto Breakneck Rd. (becomes Berdan Ave.), go about 1/2 mile, make sharp right on Indian Road, left on Osceola, left on Pines Lake Drive, about 1/2 miles, all the way until just before Vale Rd., make left into gated parking lot in the arboretum.
