About Laurelwood Arboretum

Laurelwood Arboretum, which was founded and tended for over four decades by Dorothy Knippenberg (1910-2006), features woodland trails, wildlife, two ponds and hundreds of varieties of rhododendrons, azaleas and other unusual species of plants and trees. Originally a commercial nursery, Laurelwood Arboretum is now a public park owned by the Township of Wayne and maintained with the assistance of the Friends of Laurelwood Arboretum, funded through memberships, bequests and donations. Memberships and private and public support help ensure that this unique botanical destination will remain a place of restful contemplation for generations of visitors, hikers, bird-watchers, artists and gardeners who come to be inspired and renewed by Laurelwood's beauty and plant diversity.
